Bargarh athlete Maharana clocked 21.65 seconds to erase the previous meet record of 21.87, which had been achieved by Shanmuga Srinivas at Raipur in 2019. Maharana also came closer to a bronze medal in 100m sprint before finishing fourth, clocking 11.05 seconds.

Youth international medallist Hansda set a new meet mark with a time of 47.12 seconds. He bettered the previous meet record of 47.5 seconds, which was held by Navpreet Singh since 2023. Hansda, who trains at the Odisha Reliance Foundation Athletics HPC in Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar, also made the cut for the World Junior (U-20) Athletics Championship, which will be held in Lima, Peru, in August 2024.

Nanda, who is also a cadet of Odisha Reliance Foundation Athletics HPC, secured the silver medal in boys shot put with a throw of 18.01 metres. Among other Odisha competitors, Pratik Jiwanmukti Bilung and Mahendra Hansda finished fourth and fifth in boys long jump with efforts of 6.85m and 6.75m respectively.
