Odisha boy Aahaan Mishra continued his run of success by winning the under-16 doubles title in the Calcutta South Club AITA Championship Series Junior Ranking Tennis Tournament, which was held at South Club in Kolkata from 24 to 28 June 2024. Partnering with Sankalp Sahani (West Bengal), Aahaan clinched the title, defeating his Odisha state-mates Swayam Sahoo and Ayush Patnaik in the final 6-0, 6-2.
Bhubaneswar boy Aahaan had the opportunity to bag a treble as he also reached the finals in both the under-14 and under-16 singles events. But despite putting up fighting performances, he settled as runner-up in both the categories. Student of Sai International School, Aahaan lost both the singles finals to his doubles partner Sankalp Sahani (WB), who the under-14 duel 1-6, 6-4, 6-4 and the under-16 clash 6-4, 6-3.
One of the most promising tennis talents of Odisha, Aahaan has been doing well consistently in all-India junior ranking tournaments with around 15 titles to his name since March 2023. He also has the credit of securing a doubles title at an Asian U-14 Ranking Tournament earlier this year in Kolkata.
Aahaan trains at Odisha Tennis Academy, Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar, under the guidance of senior coach Santosh Kumar Mallik. He seems to have the ability to claim more laurels in junior international tournaments.
