This was the third medal in the current National Inter-State Senior Championship for Kujur, who is native of Chhattisgarh, but trains at Odisha Reliance Athletics High Performance Centre in Bhubaneswar. Earlier, he secured silver in 100m run and gold in 4x100m relay.

For ace sprinter Srabani Nanda, this was the second medal in the current National championship. She earlier secured the bronze medals in womens 4x100m relay. Mens javelin thrower Vikrant Malik and Kishore Kumar Jena secured the silver and bronze medal for Odisha on the concluding day with efforts of 81.74 metres and 80.84 metres respectively. It may be noted that Malik hails from Haryana and trains at the Odisha Reliance Athletics HPC.

The second silver medal for Odisha on the final day was secured by Pragyan Prasanti Sahu in womens 100m hurdles with a time of 13.15 seconds. Earlier, Jashbir Nayak won one silver medal for Odisha in mens decathlon, mustering a total of 6791 points.

A total of 25 athletes represented Odisha in the 63rd National Inter State Senior Championship, which was the last domestic competition for Indian athletes to make the cut for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, scheduled to commence from July 26.
