A 12-member Odisha team reached the semifinals, winning four matches in a row. They trounced Puducherry 69-0 and Jharkhand 41-0 in their two Pool-D league games and then prevailed over Uttar Pradesh 43-0 and Delhi 26-5 in the pre-quarterfinals and quarterfinals respectively.
As many as 27 teams competed in the two-day Senior Men National Sevens Championship. This was the third medal for Odisha in the National Rugby Sevens Championships this year. Earlier, Odisha junior boys team secured the gold medal, while the State junior girls team claimed the silver medal.

Match 4 (Quarterfinal): Odisha (Ajit Kumar Hansdah 11, Asis Sabar 10, Ashok Hansdah 5) beat Delhi (Samir Akhtar 5) 26-5.
Match 5 (Semifinal): Odisha (Jugal Kishore Majhi 5, Asis Sabar 5, Ajit Kumar Hansdah 4) lost to Haryana (Neeraj 10, Prince Khatri 5) 14-15.
