  Manish, Nainika crowned State U-11 chess champions

Manish Mishra (Khordha) and Nainika Sahoo (Bargarh) won the open and girls title respectively in the Odisha State U-11 Chess Championship, which concluded at Srusti Academy of Management, Patia, Bhubaneswar today. Both the title winners scored seven points out of a possible eight.

The three-day championship, featuring a total of 105 players, was jointly organised by Srusti Academy of Management and Master Chess Foundation, under the aegis of All Odisha Chess Association (AOCA). The champion and runner-up in both categories qualified to represent Odisha in the 37th National U-11 Chess Championship to be held in Hyderabad from 4 to 10 October 2024.

 

Srusti Academy of Management chairman Saroj Kumar Sahoo, AOCA secretary Debabrata Bhatta, treasurer Sankar Prasad Mishra, tournament director Suryakanta Bisoi, chief arbiter Santosh Mohapatra and deputy chief arbiter Bhabesh Mohanty handed over the trophies and cash prizes in the closing ceremony.
