  Grand Mini City Chess: Priansh champion, Sriansh runner-up

Jajpur twin brothers Priansh Das and Sriansh Das emerged champion and runner-up respectively in the 1st Grand Mini City All Odisha Inter School Chess Championship, which was organised by SR Chess Centre and Grand Bazar Developers LLP at Grand Bazar, Phulnakhara, Cuttack today.

In the eight-round rapid tournament, Priansh scored 7.5 points to bag the top prize of Rs 15,000. Runner-up Sriansh received Rs 10,000 with seven points. The third prize of Rs 7,000 was claimed by Ayush Aryan Mohapatra of Kendrapara.

A total of 245 players from 16 districts participated in the one-day tournament. Odisha High Court judge, Justice V Narasingh graced the prize-distribution ceremony as chief guest, while Managing Director, Ashish Garg was the guest of honour.

Odisha Grandmaster Debasish Das, All India Chess Federation former joint-secretary Ranjan Mohanty, Grand Mini City promoter Sneha Garg, All Odisha Chess Association president GC Mohapatra, SR Chess Centre president Subhasis Patnaik, secretary Satya Ranjan Pattnaik and chief arbiter Suresh Chandra Sahoo were present on the occasion. Sports journalist Niranjan Reddy (OTV) was felicitated in the closing function.

Pratyasha Jena, Cuttack (7), 7. Sai Shakti Panda, Cuttack (6.5), 8. Srihan Sabat, Ganjam (6.5), 9. Rohit Mallick, Khordha (6.5), 10. Aryan Behera, Jajpur (6.5).
