  Jr National Aquatics: Mannata wins bronze medal for Odisha

Promising swimmer Mannata Mishra won the second medal for host Odisha in the ongoing 40th Sub-junior and 50th Junior National Aquatic Championships, securing one bronze in the junior girls (Group-I) 200m breaststroke with a time of 2:42.23 at the Kalinga Stadium Aquatic Centre in Bhubaneswar today.

The gold and silver medals in the event were claimed by Thanya Shadakshari (Karnataka) and Venika Vineet Parikh (Gujarat) respectively. This was the first Junior National medal of rising star Mannata, who trains at the Odisha-JSW Swimming High Performance Centre at the Kalinga Stadium Aquatic Centre, under guidance of Olympian Sandeep Sejwal.

Karnataka continued to lead the medal tally with 15 gold, seven silver and nine bronze in the six-day championships. Dharshan S, also from Karnataka, set the lone new meet of the day in junior boys (Group-I) 1500m freestyle, clocking 16:01.09.

Earlier on the opening day, Shreyasi Das made Odisha proud by winning the first medal for the host State with a silver in sub-junior girls (Group-III) 100m backstroke yesterday.
