  State Sub-junior Basketball: Puri girls, Sambalpur boys triumph

Puri girls and Sambalpur boys were crowned champions in the 48th Odisha State Sub-junior Basketball Championship, which was organised by Odisha Basketball Association (OBA) at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Cuttack from 23 to 26 August 2024.

Puri District defeated Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), Bhubaneswar in the girls final 28-20, while Sambalpur District prevailed over Balasore District in the boys summit clash 65-34.
 

Earlier in the girls semifinals, KISS got the better of Club the Entertainer (Cuttack) 21-19, while Puri outclashed Cuttack District Athletic Association 30-17. As many as 22 boys teams and 11 girls teams participated in the four-day championship.

Odisha Olympic Association secretary Avijit Paul was the chief guest at the closing ceremony and presented the trophies. OBA president Gyanaranjan Parida and secretary Ashok Kumar Sahu were present on the occasion.
