Odisha badminton prodigy Tanvi Patri added yet another feather to her cap by finishing women’s singles runner-up at the CM Trophy India International Challenge Badminton Tournament, which concluded at Isports Badminton Arena in Raipur, Chhattisgarh today.
Fourth seed Rakshitha Sree Santhosh Ramraj beat qualifier Tanvi 17-21, 21-12, 21-12 in the final to emerge champion. Tamil Nadu’s Rakshitha received a cash prize of US$ 2000, while 13-year-old Tanvi was given Rs US$ 1200.
Considering the fact that Tanvi was playing in the women’s category for the first time, finishing runner-up was an impressive achievement. Moreover, being a qualifier, she played more matches than Rakshitha and even took a game off her experienced opponent in the final.
