Odisha cycling ace Swasti Singh made the State proud, bagging a total of five medals in women elite category of the 76th Senior National Track Cycling Championship, which was held in Chennai, Tamil Nadu from 15 to 19 November 2024. She won one gold and one bronze in team events and one silver and two bronze in individual events.
This was the best performance for 23-year-old Swasti in any edition of the National Track Cycling Championship. She finished her campaign with a bronze in keirin event, garnering 80 points on the concluding day. Earlier, she claimed the silver medal in individual pursuit and bronze in omnium.
Trainee of Patiala-based SAI National Centre of Excellence, Swasti played an instrumental role in Odisha winning the first-ever gold in team pursuit and bronze in team sprint. The four-member Odisha senior women team also received the runners-up trophy. Other three cyclists of the Odisha women team included Barsarani Barik, Urmila Behera, and Khoirom Rejiya Devi.
