  CS Tennis: Aahaan, Aditya, Sanrachana win titles

Aahaan Mishra clinched a double crown, and Aditya Bikram Acharya and Sanrachana Das won one title each as host Odisha asserted supremacy in the Major Sandeep Mohapatra Memorial KDTA-AITA Championship Series U-16 & U-18 Tennis Tournament, which was held at Kalinga Stadium Tennis Complex, Bhubaneswar from 18 to 22 November 2024.

Aahaan won his two titles in boys U-16 and U-18 singles events. He also finished runners-up in boys U-18 doubles with state-mate Sutavya Karmakar as partner. Aditya emerged boys U-18 doubles champion, partnering Nihaar Suresh Kumar of Karnataka.

 

Sanrachana claimed the girls U-16 crown with a stunning victory against second seed Jemima Rebecca John of Tamil Nadu. Title winner and runners-up earned 25 and 20 AITA ranking points respectively.

A total of 55 players from 10 states participated in the five-day tournament which was organized by Khordha District Tennis Association (KDTA), under the aegis of Odisha Tennis Association (OTA).

KDTA president Madhu Sudan Padhi handed over the trophies to the finalists in presence of KDTA secretary Asit Pradhan, OTA vice-president Damodar Pradhani and tournament referee Jatin Batsya.

RESULTS (All finals):

Boys U16 Singles: Aahaan Mishra (Odisha) beat Nallagundla Parthiv (Telangana) 6-2, 6-1.
Boys U18 Singles: Aahaan Mishra (Odisha) beat Md Aariz Khan (Chhattisgarh) 6-0, 6-2.
Boys U18 Doubles: Aditya Bikram Acharya (Odisha) & Nihaar Suresh Kumar (Karnataka) beat Aahaan Mishra & Sutavya Karmakar (both Odisha) 6-4, 6-2.
Girls U16 Singles: Sanrachana Das (Odisha) beat Jemima Rebecca John (Tamil Nadu) 7-5, 6-7(4), 6-1.
