  CS Tennis: Aahan, Aditya bag double crowns for Odisha

Odisha duo Aahan and Aditya Bikram Acharya bagged a double crown each in the 4th Ganeshswar Mishra Memorial TAB AITA-OTA Championship Series U-16 & U-18 Tennis Tournament, which was organized by Tennis Association of Bhubaneswar (TAB) with the support of Odisha Tennis Association (OTA) at Kalinga Stadium Tennis Complex, Bhubaneswar, from 30 Sept to 4 Oct 2024.

Junior international Aahan clinched her second double crown within a week, winning both the U-16 and U18 girls singles title. Aditya won his two titles in boys U-16 singles and U-18 doubles with statemate Kaamlesh Rath, who also finished runner-up in U-18 boys singles. Among other Odisha achievers, Aradhyaa Verma became U-16 girls runner-up.

 

A total of 55 players from West Bengal, Bihar, Sikkim, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Telangana and host Odisha participated in the week-long tournament. The winner and runners-up earned 25 and 20 AITA ranking points respectively.

OTA joint-secretary Sanjeeb Panda handed over the trophies to the finalist in the presence of OTA administrative officer Sambit Pattanaik and tournament referee Jatin Batsya.

RESULTS (All finals):

Girls U-16 Singles:
Aahan (Odisha) beat Aradhyaa Verma (Odisha) 6-1, 2-6, 6-0.
Girls U-18 Singles: Aahan (Odisha) beat Prarthana Mondal (West Bengal) 6-2, 6-0.
Boys U-16 Singles: Aditya Bikram Acharya (Odisha) beat Channamallikarjuna Yale (Karnataka) 6-3, 6-3.
Boys U-18 Singles: Channamallikarjuna Yale (Karnataka) beat Kaamlesh Rath (Odisha) 6-1, 2-6, 7-6(0).
Boys U-18 Doubles: Kaamlesh Rath & Aditya Bikram Acharya (both Odisha) beat Aman Singh & Abhishek Singh (both Bihar) 6-4, 6-1.
