  HCL Cyclothon: Swasti Singh secures silver medal

Odisha cycling star Swasti Singh won the silver medal in women elite 55kms road mass start event of the 2nd HCl Cyclothon Chennai 2024, which was held in Chennai, Tamil Nadu today. Railway duo of Chayanika Gogoi and Sonali Chanu bagged the gold and bronze medal respectively. The top three finishers received cash prizes of Rs 1.2 lakh, Rs 1 lakh and Rs 80,000 respectively.

Over 2300 cyclists from across the country participated in this National ranking event, which was organized by HCL Sports, under the aegis of Cycling Federation of India. The event, which was flagged off from Mayajal multiplex, offered a total prize fund Rs 33 lakhs.

There were four different categories of events: the professional-elite race, open only to CFI-licensed cyclists; the amateur race covering distances of 55km and 24km; the amateur MTB race covering 24km; and the green ride category, a non-competitive 15km ride aimed at promoting cycling as an activity to stay healthy.

The theme of this edition was _ Change Your Gear _ aimed at emphasising the transformative power of cycling and its positive impact on individual well-being and environmental sustainability.
