Young Odisha lifters Harsbardhan Sahu and Jyoshna Sabar won one gold medal each in the youth category of the IWLF National Youth, Junior & Senior Weightlifting Championship, which commenced at Rainbow International School in Nagrata Bagwan, Himachal Pradesh today.
Berhampur lifter Harsabardhan claimed the gold in boys 49kg weight class, lifting 85kg in snatch and 110kg in clean & jerk for a total of 195kg. This was the second National medal for Harsabardhan, who had secured bronze in the same weight category at the previous National championship in Arunachal Pradesh last year.
The 15-year-old Harsabardhan, who started lifting weights at Sri Sankar Physical & Cultural Club in Berhampur, under the guidance of coach Jeetendra Kumar Sahu, now trains at Army Sports Institute in Pun.
