A three-wicket haul by allrounder Tanmayee Behera went in vain as Odisha suffered a five-wicket defeat against Tamil Nadu in their third Group-A match of the BCCI Senior Women T20 Cricket Championship at Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara, Gujarat today.

This was the second defeat for Odisha, who earlier lost to Gujarat by seven wickets three days back. Mediocre batting was the main reason for the defeat against Tamil Nadu. Opting to bat, Odisha could not last for the full 20 overs. They were bowled out for 91, which was possible thanks to a 30-ball 28 by Sushree Dibyadarshini.

On the other hand, a 64-run stand for the opening wicket between Arshi Choudhary and Nethra L helped Tamil Nadu clinch victory in 19 overs with five wickets intact. Tanmayee was the outstanding bowler for Odisha, bagging three wickets for 10 runs. Odisha will next meet Mizoram on October 22.
