  Junior National Athletics: Odisha secure 3 medals on Day-3

Host Odisha grabbed one gold and two silver medals on the third day of the 39th National Junior Athletics Championships at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar today. With these three medals, the total number of medals for Odisha became five, which include two gold, two silver and one bronze.

Odisha won the second gold today in U-20 mens 4×100m relay. The relay team, consisting of Dondapati Mrutyam Jayaram, Astik Pradhan, Mahendra Santa and Rajendra Sidhu also set a new meet record with time of 41.10 seconds.

 

Sabita Toppo won silver medal for Odisha in U-20 womens 100m hurdles with a time of 14.17 seconds. Crystal Vadakel (Maharashtra) and Yamini Karthikeyan (Tamil Nadu) secured the gold and bronze medal, clocking 14.10 and 14.56 seconds respectively.

Astik Pradhan secured the other silver medal of the day for Odisha in U-20 mens 400m run, clocking 46.97 seconds. Jay Kumar (Delhi) bagged the gold with a new meet record of 46.29 seconds, while Arjun Pradeep (Kerala) claimed bronze, taking 47.61 seconds.

Earlier on the second day, Dondapati Mrutyam Jayaram captured the gold medal in U-20 mens 100m sprint, while Samikshya Smaranika got the bronze medal in U-14 girls triathlon-B.
