Odisha international Smaraki Mohanty won the bronze medal in women U-2000 rating category of the Asian Amateur Blitz Chess Championship at Al Ain Chess Club and Mind Games in United Arab Emirates (UAE) on 19 December 2024. She scored 6.5 points out of a possible nine.

Smaraki won five games, drew three and lost one. Al Maamari Wafia Darwish and Anoud Eisa Mohamed (both UAE) secured the gold and silver medal, scoring 7.5 and seven points respectively. Earlier in the women rapid competition, Smaraki finished sixth, garnering five points from seven rounds.

A former Asian School and Commonwealth U-18 gold medal winner, Smaraki is now competing in the women standard event of the continental tournament. She has secured 3.5 points so far from eight rounds. The final round will be played tomorrow.
