The Odisha campaign at the 23rd National Para Athletics Championship 2025 ended on a dazzling note with woman sprint ace Jayanti Behera clinching a glorious treble and woman javelin thrower Suchitra Parida bagging gold along with national record at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai (Tamil Nadu) today.
Jayanti completed the treble by winning her third gold medal in womens T-47 200m event with a time of 27.42 seconds today. She captured her first two gold medals earlier in 100m and 400m sprint.
Suchitra secured the javelin gold in F-55 category, throwing the spear to a distance of 18.79 metres. With this effort she bettered her own National Record of 16.99 metres, which was set at the 22nd National Para Athletics Championship last year in Goa.
