Women athletes won the first two medals for Odisha in the 2nd Khelo India Para Games 2025 today with sprinters Jayanti Behera and Janaki Oram bagging one gold and one silver respectively at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.
Jayanti, the most decorated para athlete of Odisha, secured the first medal for the state, winning the yellow metal in the women T-47 100m event with an impressive time of 13.71 seconds. Bhavani Valasamgari of Andhra Pradesh secured the silver, clocking 13.96 seconds, while Nishu from Punjab claimed the bronze with a time of 15.14 seconds.
This was the fourth gold medal of the year for 26-year-old international sprinter Jayanti, who garnered three gold medals at the 23rd National Para Athletics Championship last month at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai.
