  Kalahandi Cup Cricket: Kalahandi upset Rourkela

Kalahandi caused a major upset in the OCA Senior Men Inter-District Cricket Tournament for Kalahandi Cup, defeating fancied Rourkela by 31 runs in their preliminary league match at Ravenshaw University Ground in Cuttack today. Subham Dash and Pokuri Narayan played important roles in the Kalahandi win, taking four wickets each.

Bhadrak, Bhubaneswar-B, Angul, Balasore, Keonjhar, Cuttack-A, KIIT and Jharsuguda posted wins in eight other matches of the day. Bowlers asserted supremacy in most of the matches with Biswajeet Mallick (Bhubaneswar-B), Soyanshu Pattanayak (Keonjhar) and Subham Nayak (Cuttack-A) bagging five or more wickets each.

Match 79 (MGM Ground, Cuttack): Puri 147/10 in 45.2 overs (Chandan K Jena 31; Kshyama Sagar Bal 3/14, Rohit K Dash 3/32) lost to Bhadrak 150/4 in 28.1 overs (Sahil A Khan 57*; Anish Pradhan 2/27) by 6 wickets. PoM: Kshyama S Bal.

Match 80 (Centurion University Ground, Bhubaneswar): Mayurbhanj 140/10 in 39 overs (Subham Naik 50; Biswajeet Mallick 6/17) lost to Bhubaneswar-B 144/3 in 21 overs (Sidhant K Jena 54; Varsneya Vinayak Das 3/39) by 7 wickets. PoM: Biswajeet Mallick.

Match 81 (Ravenshaw Ground, Cuttack): Angul 229/10 in 49.4 overs (Rohit K Pradhan 57, Ayush K Barik 56; Ajit K Yadav 4/37) beat Bargarh 125/10 in 36 overs (Rohan Kumar 45; Satya P Behera 3/33, Akash Pradhan 2/15) by 104 runs. PoM: Akash Pradhan.

Match 82 (Adashpur Ground, Cuttack): Nuapada 155/10 in 37.4 overs (Manoj K Nayak 46; Manas R Patra 4/25) lost to Balasore 161/4 in 25.3 overs (Nirbishankar Barik 46; Ayushman Gupta 3/44) by 6 wickets. PoM: Manas R Patra.

Match 83 (Ravenshaw Ground, Cuttack) Kalahandi 98/10 in 21.3 overs (Dinesh Kumar Majhi 34; Kousik K Manikpuri 4/24, Ankitkar Jaiswal 3/20) beat Rourkela 67/10 in 18.2 overs (Hemanta Nayak 21; Pokuri Narayan 4/15, Subham Dash 4/20) by 31 runs. PoM: Subham Dash.

Match 84 (Railway Ground, Jatni): Keonjhar 244/10 in 46.5 overs (Biswajit Jena 40; Subhasis Palo 4/73, Rajesh Patra 3/50) beat Kandhamal 135/10 in 36.3 overs (Rasmi R Sahoo 42; Soyanshu Pattanayak 5/26) by 109 runs. PoM: Soyanshu Pattanayak.
