  KITG 2026: Anjali hat-tricks; Odisha swimmers, lifters cornor glory

Riding on the dazzling performances of swimmers and weightlifters, Odisha reaped a rich haul of 10 medals on the second day of the 1st Khelo India Tribal Games (KITG) in Raipur, Chhattisgarh today. The 10 medals featured four gold, one silver and five bronze. Overall, Odisha stayed at the second spot in the medal tally with a total of 14, which include five gold, one silver and eight bronze.

Odisha swimmers, who bagged one gold and three bronze yesterday, continued their superlative show to capture another three gold and four bronze at the International Swimming Pool in Raipur today and increase their overall tally to 11 medals. Among Odisha medallists in swimming, Anjali Munda clinched a golden hat-trick, adding two titles to the one she won yesterday.

Odisha womens 4x100m freestyle relay team, featuring Rupali Hembram, Subhasmita Baipai, Krushna Priya Nayak and Ritika Minz, also grabbed the gold medal, while Anjali Mallick, Kanhu Soren, Rajesh Soren and the mens 4x100m freestyle relay team, consisting of Sarbeswar Birua, Utkalmani Gopabandhu Kisan, Furmal Hembram and Gopinath Hembram secured one bronze each.

 

Odisha weightlifters started their campaign on a successful note, picking up one gold, silver and bronze each at Pt Ravishankar Shukla University in Raipur. Woman international lifter Jhilli Dalabehera won the gold in 53kg category, while Deepa Rani Mallik and Subrat Naik claimed the silver in womens 48kg and bronze in mens 60kg respectively.

Silver: Deepa Rani Mallik, Weightlifting, Womens 48kg, snatch 54kg, c&j 66kg, total 120kg (26 March).

Bronze: Kanhu Soren, Swimming, Mens 200m medley, 2:36.21s (26 March).
Bronze: Rajesh Soren, Swimming, Mens 100m backstroke, 1:10.99s (26 March).
Bronze: Anjali Mallick, Swimming, Womens 200m medley, 3:06.13s (26 March).
Bronze: Sarbeswar Birua, Utkalmani Gopabandhu Kisan, Furmal Hembram, Gopinath Hembram, Swimming, Mens 4x100m freestyle relay, 4:25.90s (26 March).
Bronze: Subrat Naik, Weightlifting, Mens 60kg, snatch 106kg, c&j 122kg, total 228kg (26 March).
