  Asian Masters Swimming: Odisha competitors win 4 medals

Representing host India in the 2nd Asian Masters Swimming Championships at Padukone-Dravid Centre of Sports Excellence in Bangalore, four competitors from Odisha bagged four medals, including two gold, one silver and one bronze on the opening day today.

Surendra Naik secured one gold in 65-69 year mens 50m breaststroke with a time of 47.04 seconds, while the other gold was claimed by Dasarathi Patel bagged in 50-54 year mens 100m freestyle, clocking 1:10.68.

 

Lakshmi Chandra Mahakur won the silver medal in 55-59 year mens 50m breaststroke, taking 40.75 seconds. The bronze medal was captured by Jayanta Pande in 65-69 year mens 100m freestyle with a time of 1:21.64.

All four medal winners of Odisha belong to Sambalpur. Earlier, the quartet reaped a rich harvest of 16 medals, including three gold and seven silver in the 22nd National Masters Swimming Championship, which was held at Champions Aquatic Academy in Bahadurgarh, Haryana from 11 to 13 September 2026.

Organised by the Swimming Federation of India from October 4 to 10, the continental event has brought together master swimmers, aged 25 to 80+ from 53 nations across Asia, Oceania and the Middle East.
