* Put up eye-catching performances in National championships.

* Selected to represent India in floor hockey event of the Special Olympics World Winter Games, scheduled to be held in Austria from March 14 to 25, 2017.
* Won one gold medal in unified beach volleyball event of the Special Olympics World Summer Games, held in Los Angeles, USA from July 22 to August 2, 2015.

* She was felicitated by Nobel Peace Prize winner Kailash Satyarthi in an event organised by Parichay Foundation in Bhubaneswar on March 6, 2017.
* Sarita was nine years old when she was admitted in the Centre of Special Education for Children with Multiple Disabilities of Open Learning Systems (OLS), Bhubaneswar.
* Sarita was assessed with mild intellectual disability and hearing impairment and hence put in the functional academy of OLS, where she could learn to read and write.
* After a few months Sarita was admitted in Class II in the nearby general school, but she discontinued going there after a couple of years came back to OLS where she started learning Odissi dance and tailoring etc.
* Her special talent in sports was identified by the CEO of OLS, Prakash K Rath, who is also the Area Director of Special Olympics Bharat-Odisha and she was sent to participate in various competitions organised by Special Olympics Bharat.
* Her talent in cycling was honed by her coach, mentor and confidante, Arpita Mohapatra, an SOB National Trainer and Limca Book of Records holder in Mountain Biking.
* SOB-Odisha sent Sarita along with her coach to the Tata Sports Academy in Jamshedpur for training under the expert guidance of nine-time National cycling champion Satbir Singh Sahota.
* Sarita has also shown her prowess in floorball and floor hockey.
* Satita`s father is a person with hearing impairment and earns a paltry sum as a house painting worker.
* Her mother has opened a small grocery store in their temporary house in a slum in Bhubaneswar to augment the family income.
