*     He was born with clubfoot, which is also known as talipes equinovarus.
*     It is a birth defect in which the foot is twisted downward or inward.
*     He has fixed ankle in both legs with little or no movement.
*     Besides, both of his calfs are underdeveloped.

*     Won the mens doubles Silver medal with Uttarakhand partner Manoj Sarkar in the 6th National Para Badminton Championship, held at Tata Nagar (Jamshedpur), Jharkhand on 23 March 2024.
*     Won the Bronze medal in para badminton mens singles SL4 category of the 1st Khelo India Para Games in New Delhi on 11 December 2023.
*     Won the mens SL3-SL4 doubles Gold medal with Uttarakhand partner Manoj Sarkar at the 5th National Para Badminton Championship in Lucknow on 26 March 2023.
*     Won one Bronze medal in the 4th Para Badminton National Championship at East Coast Railway Indoor Stadium in Bhubaneswar on 26 December 2021.
*     Won one Gold medal each in 35+ mens singles SL4 and mens doubles SL3-SL4 events 1st Para Masters National Indoor Games in Thrissur, Kerala on 3 September 2021.
*     Won Bronze medal in Men SL3-SL4 doubles event at the 1st National Para Badminton Championship, held at Vajpayee Sports Complex in Bangalore from 23-25 March, 2017.

*     Won the Bronze medal in mens doubles SL3-SL4 category with Odisha State-mate G Dillaswar Rao at the Japan Para Badminton International in Tokyo, Japan on 27 Oct 2024.
*     Won 2 Bronze medals (One each in mens SL4 singles and SU5 doubles) in the Uganda Para Badminton International, held at the Lugogo Indoor Stadium in Kampala, Uganda from 2-7 July 2024.
*     Won one Gold and one Bronze medal in mens doubles SU5- SL3-SL4 combined and mixed doubles SL3-SU5 events respectively at the Bahrain Para Badminton International in Manama on 26 May 2024.
*     Won the mens doubles SL3-SL4 Silver medal with Uttarakhand partner Manoj Sarkar in the Spanish Para Badminton International (BWF Level-I Tournament) in Toledo, Spain on 27 April 2024.
*     Won the mens doubles SL3-SL4 Silve medal with Uttarakhand partner Manoj Sarkar in the Spanish Para Badminton International (Level-II) Tournament in Victoria, Spain on 21 April 2024.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
*     Odisha Government felicitated him with Biju Patnaik Best Para Sportsperson of the Year Award and a cheque of Rs 1 lakh at Lok Seva Bhawan, Bhubaneswar on 29 August 2023.
*     Deep overcame clubfoot (defect in both feet), demise of his father, family burden, multiple career-threatening injuries and financial constraints to win his first international medal in 2021.
*     From his childhood days, he was passionate about fitness and played cricket, football and badminton at school and college level.
*     He was so hooked to badminton that playing till midnight did not make him tired.
*     Deep was also good in academics and amidst the financial crisis, completed his graduation with botany honours.
*     Also did well in medical entrance examination, but could not afford to get a seat in any medical college.
*     World turned upside down for Deep when his father passed away in 2004.
*     At that time he was a Plus-Three first year science student.
*     He had to give up sports and start giving tuitions for the sustenance of his family.
*     It was also his responsibility to repay a big loan of the family.
*     He found a job in HDFC Bank but only to lose it within a year after suffering a road accident.
*     Under pressure to earn for the family, he undertook a variety of jobs that came across his way, including insurance, stock brokering, loan recovery etc.
*     In 2012 he got a job in Bank of Baroda and while serving at Kantiaposi, a remote place in Angul district, resumed playing badminton.
*     Also formed a badminton club there and bought a gym, paying Rs 50,000 to keep himself fit.
*     Started playing competitive badminton after he was transferred to Cuttack in 2014.
*     YMCA court, near Barabati Stadium, was the place where he sharpened his skills and started playing state level tournaments.
*     Shifting to Bhubaneswar in 2016, after getting a State Government job on merit in the Finance Department, proved to be a big turning point for Deep, who found decent infra facility to train and prepare well for national and international tournaments.
*     Deep aims at becoming World No 1 in SL4 category and compete in Paralympics.
*     He uses special shoes, which costs Rs 10,000 a pair.
*     Spends around Rs 1.5 lakh to play an international tournament.
*     He has been meeting all these expenses from own earnings.
*     As a government employee he works as many hours as any other employee does.
*     His daily schedule includes, full-time office duty as a State Secretariat employee and two training sessions of four hours each at Udaan Badminton Academy.
*     After spending a total 16 hours day for office work and badminton, he does nto find much time to rest and be with my family.
*     Suffered a major calf injury while playing Bangalore National championship in 2017 and then fractured his right leg thrice in 2018.
*     Spends large amount of his earnings for training, equipment and competitions.
*     Married Sebashree Sahoo, a RBI employee in 2015.
*     His wife supports him in keeping his badminton dreams alive.
