#     Won Senior National gold medal continuously for five years from 1977-78 to 1982-83.

INTERNATIONAL:
*     Bagged gold medal at the Mini Commonwealth Games in Brisbase, Australia in 1981.
*     Bagged silver medal in bantamweight category with a total lift of 227.5 kg at the Commonwealth Games in Brisbane, Australia in 1982.
*     One bronze each in Nagoya (1981) and Damascus (1983) Asian Weightlifting Championships.
*     Secured gold medal in Pakistan National Games at Peshwar in 1982.

AWARDS/HONOURS:
*     On 17 January 2014, Odisha Sports Journalists Association honoured him with the 7th OSJA Lifetime Achievement Award and a cheque of Rs 25,000 at Kalinga Stadium Tennis Centre, Bhubaneswar.
*     He was honoured with the 4th Kamal Ganguly Memorial Sports Award for life-time achievement by Saheed Sporting Club in Bhubaneswar on Jan 3, 2015.
*     Received Arjuna Award and Rs 5,000 from President Giani Zail Singh in New Delhi on 29 August 1982.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
*     Joined Indian Navy as a Leading Electrical Mechanic Power (LEMP), under sports quota in 1974 and continued in the job for 10 years.
*     Joined Indian Railways as a Guard in 1985 and took voluntary retirement from service in 2009.
*     His application to state government for a housing plot is reported to have gone missing from the Sports Department.
