MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS:

STATE:
*     Won the Gold medal in senior men 102kg category of the 71st Odisha State Weightlifting Championship, held at Ganjam Weightlifting Academy in Berhampur from 9-11 August 2024. Also bagged the Best Lifter Award in junior men category.

NATIONAL:
*     Won the Silver medal in junior men 96 kg category of the IWLF National Weightlifting Championship at Rajiv Gandhi University, Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh) on 4 January 2024.
*     Finished 4th in Junior Men 96kg category of the National Weightlifting Championship in Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu on 5 January 2023.
*     Created a short-lived New National Record in junior men 96kg clean & jerk, lifting 167kg at the IWLF National Weightlifting Championships at Biju Patnaik Indoor Stadium, KIIT University, Bhubaneswar on 28 March 2022. But could not win a medal as he finished fifth in the final rankings, with a total lift of 288kg, which included 121kg in snatch.
*     Won one Silver medal in youth men 96kg class of the combined National Weightlifting Championships, held at NSNIS, Patiala from 9-12 August, 2021.

MISCELLANEOUS:
*     Won the Silver medal for KIIT University in men 102kg category of the 4th Khelo India University Games at Rajiv Gandhi University in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh on 22 February 2024.
*     Won the Silver medal in mens 96kg category of the 4th Khelo India Youth Games in Panchkula, Haryana on 8 June 2022.
*     Won one Bronze medal for KIIT in men 96kg class at the 2nd Khelo India University Games in Bengaluru on 26 April 2022.

*     Punit belongs to a weightlifting family.

*     His father Chandra Sekhar Sahu won weightlifting gold medal in 5th SAF Games Colombo in 1991.
