MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS IN WEIGHTLIFTING:

NATIONAL:
*     Won medals for Odisha, Maharashra and Indian Railways in National Weightlifting Championships.

INTERNATIONAL:
*     Bagged gold medal in 75kg category, lifting 127.5kg in snatch, 162.5kg in clean & jerk for a total of 290kg at the 5th SAF Games, held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from 22-31 December 1991,    

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
*     He is also a Category-A National weightlifting referee and a freeklance coach.
*     As a coach he groomed many national level medallists, including his younger brother and son.
*     Started lifting weights after completing school education.
*     Lost his father in 1984.
*     His father was a weightlifter, who won medals in State championships and represented Odisha in National championships.
*     His younger brother Krushna Chandra Sahu and younger son Punit SAho are also weightlifting Natioal medallists.
*     Chandra Sekhar is part of 10-member family, that includes younger brother Krushna and seven sisters (Sashirekha, Sumitra, Sanju, Sajjan, Geeta, Pramita and Namita).
