*     Made debut in competitive chess at Cuttack District Junior Championship at Mission School on May 27, 1987 and finished third.
*     Made debut in the State Junior Championship at Bhubaneswar in 1988 and National Junior Championship at Palachi (Tamil Nadu) in 1889.
*     Won the State under-25 title four times.
*     Helped Utkal University finish runners-up in the All-India Inter-University Chess Championship at Tirupatin in 1997.


PERFORMANCE/ACHIEVEMENT AS COACH:
*     Working as a professional coach in all the DAV Schools of Odisha; Cambridge School (Cuttack), DPS Kalinga, Stewart School (Cuttack), Plus-Two Jupiter Science College and Koustuv Group of Engineering College (both Bhubaneswar).
*     Teaching chess to inmates of Central Prison (Choudwar, Cuttack) under special training programme.
*     Functioning as the chief coach, founder and director of SR Chess Centre at Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Angul, Talcher, Dhenkanal and Berhampur.
*     Claims to have groomed around 400 players since 2007.
*     His leading desciples include Debasish Das, Sunyasakta Satpathy, Padmini Rout, Kiran Manisha Mohanty, Utkal Ranjan Sahoo, Rakesh Kumar Moharana, Adyasa Mahapatra, Rudrakshya Parida, Subhashis Barik, Rakesh Kumar Jena, Rakesh Kumar Nayak, Swayams Mishra, Saina Salonika, Smaraki Mohanty, Sidhant Mohapatra, Nishit Mohanty.

*     Functioning as the secretary of Barabati Chess Academy, Kalinga Chess Association and Orissa Chess Player Association.
*     Also functioning as the Joint-secretary of Cuttack District Chess Association, founder member of Orissa Chess Foundation, Convener of Orissa Chess Development Committee, Managing Editor of Orissa Chess Review (A bi-monthly chess magazine of Orissa).
