* As many as 50 cueists from different places of the state have confirmed their participation in the event, which is being sponsored by Mahavir Institute of Engineering & Technology (MIET).
* Participants include junior national snooker champion Ashutosh Padhy, state senior snooker champion Jeet Das and state senior billiards champion Subrat Das.
* Revived after a gap of three years, the tournament offers a total cash prize of Rs 60,000, including Rs 20,000 for the champion and Rs 10,000 for the runner-up.
* According to Vintage Club co-founder Satyadeep Das, the MIET Open will serve as a preparatory event for leading cueists for the National Billiards and Snooker Championship, scheduled to be held at Bengal Rowing Club in Kolkata from January 3 to 24.
