* The inaugural Asia Rugby Seven U-18 Girls’ Championship, featuring six nations, was held in Dubai (Nov 30-Dec 2, 2016) where Hong Kong won the title, defeating Kazakhstan 12-5 in the final.
* A 12-member Indian team finished third, beating Sri Lanka 15-7.
* Rugby India General Manager Nasser Hussain was the coach of the Indian team.
* Uzbekistan and UAE were other two nationas in the fray.
* In the second edition, Japan emerged champions beating defending champions Hong Kong in the final. India finished runners-up.
* The Indian National Camp for the 3rd edition is underway at KIIT International School in Bhubaneswar.
