DESCRIPTION:
* IBSA is a multi-sport event for blind partially sighted athletes, stated in every four years.
* It was first held at Madrid, Spain in 1998.
* IBSA World Games 2023 will be held at the University of Birmingham, across the Edgbaston area and wider region.
* More than 1000 visually impaired athletes from 70 nations are expected to participate.
* The Games will feature three Paralympic and eight non-Paralympic sports disciplines.
* Cricket has been included for the first time.
* Indian men and women cricket teams for the blind would compete in this Games.
* A 16-member Indian women cricket team for blind, including four from Odisha, has been announced by the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI).
* The four Odisha players are: Padmini Tudu (B1), Basanti Hansda (B2), Phula Soren (B3) and Jhili Birua (B3).
* Indian men cricket team for the blind would be announced shortly.
