DESCRIPTION:
* This will be the ninth edition of the Champions Trophy which was first held in 1998.
* Top eight ranked National teams of the 2023 World Cup have qualified to compete.
* Originally Pakistan were to host the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
* UAE was announced as co-host after India refused to play in Pakistan.
* Only the matches involving India will be played in UAE.
* The eight teams will play league matches in two groups and the top two teams from each group will qualify for semifinals.
* Group-A has been formed with Bangladesh, India, New Zealand and Pakistan, while Group-B has been constituted with Afghanistan, Australia, England and South Africa.
* The tournament will feature a total 15 matches.
* Matches will be played at three venues in Pakistan (Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi) and one in UAE (Dubai).
* Pakistan are the defending champions.
* Australia have been most successful team, winning the Champions Trophy twice in 2006 and 2009
* South Africa (1998), New Zealand (2000), West Indies (2004), India (2013) and Pakistan (2017) have emerged champions once each.
* India and Sri Lanka were declared co-champions in 2002.
