DESCRIPTION:
* India is set to send a 124-member contingent (78 men, 46 women), including able-bodied and para-athletes, to thi Commonwealth Games.
* Only three athletes from Odisha have been selected to represent India in two disciplines at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
* They are: Animesh Kujur (Athletics, 200m); Tapan Mohanty and Tapeshwarnath Das (both artistics gymnastics, mens event).
* The Indian contintent will be spearheaded by stars like Neeraj Chopra, Mirabai Chanu, and Lovlina Borgohain.
* Rohit Rajpal and Ravi Bengani have been named as Chef de Mission and Deputy Chef de Mission respectively.
* The Glasgow Games have been streamlined to feature only 10 sports for able-bodied athletes (Athletics, Boxing, Weightlifting, Judo, Gymnastics, 3x3 Basketball, Track Cycling, Lawn Bowls, Netball, and Swimming) alongside para-events.
* India will host the Centenary Commonwealth Games 2030 in Ahmedabad.
* India won 61 medals (22 gold, 16 silver, 23 bronze) at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.
* India with an overall total of 564 medals (203 gold, 190 silver, 171 bronze) is ranked 4th at the all-time Commonwealth Games medal table.
