DESCRIPTION:
* Talent scouting programme is meant for selection of aspiring trainees for 15 government-run sports hostels and three centres of excellence for the academic year 2011-12 from July 1.
* Talent scouting programme, involving 11 disciplines, would take place in two phases _ core-pocket level and state level.
* The core-pocket scouting will be conducted at district-level centres and talents spotted from these centres will be eligible to participate in the state-level programme.
* The 11 disciplines include archery, athletics, basketball, football, gymnastics, hockey, kabaddi, swimming, volleyball, weightlifting and wrestling.
* Talents aspiring to get into government-run sports hostels should be aged within 12 to 14 years (10 to 14 years for gymnastics and swimming) and should be studying in class eight or below in government-recognised academic institutions.
* Talent scouting for centres of excellence will be done in three disciplines _ athletics, hockey and weightlifting.
* Aspiring talents for these centres should have secured at least sixth position in a National competition, should be aged between 15 to 18 years and should be regular students of recognised schools or colleges.
