DESCRIPTION:
* The clinic offers opportunity for umpires of the state to upgrade their knowledge and be eligible to appear the Grade-B examination to be conducted by Badminton Association of India (BAI) during the Sub-junior National Championship, which is to be hosted by OSBA for the first time at Cuttack from November 10 to 16.
* The clinic is part of a series of programmes OSBA has undertaken to popularise badminton in the state and make it a sport for the mass
* On the opening day of the clinic, a three-member OSBA Court Officials Committee (COC) will take classes to help aspiring umpires upgrade their knowledge of the sport. It will be followed by a practical session. The candidates will appear an examination on the second and last day.
* Headed by BAI Grade-A umpire Monoj Sabat, the COC includes BAI Grade-B umpires Bijay Kumar Bag and Rita Das as members.
* Top four finishers of the clinic will be eligible to appear the BAI Grade-B umpires’ examination directly.
* Besides the top four, other candidates showing good performance will be included in the OSBA panel of umpires and they will get the opportunity to officiate in state level tournaments.
* Candidates desirous of joining the umpires’ clinic have been requested to register their names by October 28.
