DESCRIPTION:
* MCC was formed in the by-lanes of BJB Nagar (Bhubaneswar) in late sixties and went on to become a premier cricket academy of the state, producing many first-class cricketers.
* The tournament is intended to promote 40-over format, which is almost extinct now.
Altogether 12 leading clubs of the state would vie for the trophy.
* The champion side will be richer by Rs 30,000 and the runner-up outfit will receive Rs 20,000.
* The man of the tournament will pocket Rs 10,000, while the man of the final, best bowler and best batsman will take home Rs 5,000 each.
* There will be two special awards worth Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 for the woman cricketer of the year and promising cricketer of the year respectively.
* The tournament is being revived after a gap of 15 years.
* It was earlier known as Birupakshya Nanda Memorial Tournament and many well-known cricketers including Saba Karim, Sunil Valson, Subrat Banerjee and M Shreedhar participated in it.
* A budget of Rs 6 lakh has been estimated for the smooth conduct of the tournament and Old Monk Club Soda will be the chief sponsors.
