Amity United (Haryana) beat defending champions Army XI (Delhi) 5-4, via tie-breaker in the final to win the Kalinga Cup All-India Football Tournament at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack this evening.
The floodlit final went to the tie-breaker after both the sides failed to score in the regulation time.
Amity Unite received a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh, while the runners-up Army XI was given Rs 1 lakh. Excise Minister Debi Prasad Mishra, Commerce Minister Jaya Narayan Mishra and High Court Justice A S Naidu gave away the trophy and prizes at the closing function.
Earlier in the semifinals, Army XI registered an emphatic 3-1 win over BEML, Bangalore at Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium in Bhawanipatna, while Amity United edged out All Nepal Football Academy 9-8 via penalty shoot out at Jharsuguda.
