  Coaches` course draw good response

A Level-I coaches` course commenced under the aegis of Orissa Cricket Association at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack, on Saturday. As many as 30 candidates, including former India all-rounder Sanjay Raul; past Ranji Trophy players Sourajit Mohapatra, Soumitra Choudhury, Prashant Mohapatra, Dhirendra Rout and State sub-junior coach Khirod Behera joined the programme, which would conclude on March 6. The course is being conducted by the teaching feculty of National Cricket Academy (NCA), comprising Dinesh Nanavaty (batting), Dr Kinjal Suratwala (sports science), Atul Gaekwad (bowling), R Sridhar (wicket-keeper and fielding) and R Srikanth.

 

The course is intended to help coaches enhance their knowledge about modern methods of coaching. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has introduced this course through NCA in order to develop an uniform pattern of coaching in the country. The opening-day programme featured both theory and practical sessions. The course will conclude with a final test, the results of which will serve as the basis to provide Level-I coaching licences.
