  Bengal crush Orissa

A century by Anustup Mazumdar and a five-wicket haul by Priyanker Mukherjee powered Bengal to an emphatic 80-run win over Orissa in a crucial league match of the East Zone Ranjit Trophy one-day league match at Maligaon, Assam on Monday. This was the second successive defeat for Orissa, who lost to Jharkhand by 96 runs earlier on Saturday. Orissa completed their league engagements with two wins and equal number of defeats.

 

According to reports reaching here, Orissa were dismissed for 189 in reply to Bengal`s healthy total of 269 for eight. Captain Shiv Sundar Das top scored for Orissa with 85. But Bengal superstar Sourav Ganguly failed in the match as he got out for five.

  Brief scores: Bengal 269/8 in 50 overs (Anustup Mazumdar 101, Laxmi Ratan Shukla 63, Wriddhiman Saha 32 n.o, Debabrata Das 30, Avik Choudhury 20; Debasis Mohanty 2/35) beat Orissa 189/10 in 39.1 overs (Shiv Sundar Das 85, Samir Mohanty 40; Priyanker Mukherjee 5/26, I Saxena 3/17, Ranadev Bose 2/57).
