International martial artist Valena Valentina added yet another feather to her cap by winning a gold and a silver medal in the 23rd Senior National Karate Championship, which was held in Chennai from March 26 to 28. According to a press release from Orissa State Karate-do Association today, Bhubaneswar girl Valena bagged the gold in women’s kata and the silver in 50kg fighting events.

The gold in kata almost ensured the stylish Valena a place in the Indian karate squad for the Asian Games. She earlier claimed a gold medal in the South Asian Games (SAG). Besides the two National medals, Orissa has also bagged the right to host the 24th Senior National Championship in 2011, the release said.
