Odisha ended their campaign in the Syed Mustaq Ali Trophy Senior Men East Zone T20 League on a losing note, going down to Assam by six wickets at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata today. Odisha finished third in the five-team zonal league with eight points from four matches. Host Bengal emerged champions with four wins and full 16 points, while Assam finished runners-up with 12 points.

Electing to bat today, Odisha rode on a half-century by captain Biplab Samantray to muster a competitive total of 143 for seven in 20 overs. Amit Verma was most successful Assam bowler, taking three wickets for 19 runs. Assam overhauled the target with nine balls to spare thanks to a half-century by Pallavkumar Das. Basant Mohanty picked up two wickets for Assam.
