  St Gregorious lift Harmohan Praharaj Memorial Trophy

St Gregorious School emerged champions in the 3rd Harmohan Praharaj Memorial Inter-School Cricket Tournament, defeating Deepika English Medium School in the finall by 29 runs at Ispat Vidyalaya Ground here today. Organised by Rourkela Gymkhana from April 6, the tournament was a tribute to former Odisha cricket captain Harmohan Praharaj.

Altogether 12 schools from Rourkela and its periphery are participated in the tournament, which was inaugurated by Dr A K Singh, Director (I/C), Medical & Health Services, Rourkela Steel Plant. NSPCL General Manager A K Tiwari graced the closing ceremony as chief guest and handed over the trophy.

Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) Deputy General Manager Hiralal Mohapatra, former first-class cricketers Manoj Patel and Avinash Khatua and Rourkela Gymkhana secretary R Srikanth were present on the occasion.

 

Sanat Mahato of the champion was adjudged player of the final match as well as best bowler of the tournament. The prize for best batsman of the tournament was claimed by Sameer Senapati.

RESULTS:
April 6 (Match No 1): DAV Public School 98/3 in 15 overs (Ankit Mohanty 41 n.o) lost to Guru Nanak Public School 99/4 in 11.5 overs (Debashish Dash 28) by 6 wkts. PoM: Debashish Dash.

April 7 (Match No 2): St Paul`s School 99/7 in 15 overs (Anubhav Raut 24; Amrut S Deo 3/9) lost to Saraswati Sishu Mandir, Sector-VI 100/1 in 7.3 overs (Pradipta Behera 40, Satish Kansari 36 n.o) by 9 wkts. PoM: Pradipta Behera.

April 8 (Match No 3): Govt High School, Udit Nagar 100/9 in 15 overs (Hemanta N 27, Bishal M 2/13) lost to St Gregorous School, Kalunga 102/5 in 13.2 overs (Bishal M 30) by 5 wkts. PoM: Bishal M

April 9 (Match No 4): Sri Aurobindo School, Sector-V 93/5 in 15 overs (Sudhanshu Rana 34 n.o) lost to St Arnold`s School, Kalunga 96/3 in 11 overs (Umesh Kumar 27; Sachin 3/14) by 7 wkts. PoM: Umesh Kumar.

April 10 (Match No 5): Delhi Public School 117/1 in 15 overs (Ashish Mallick 30*, Maninder Parmar 36) beat Madhusudan Sikhya Niwas 64/10 in 13 overs (Amit 15*; Sawat Rout 3/11) by 53 runs. PoM: Maninder Parmar.

April 11 (Match No 6): Deepika E M School 160/9 in 15 overs (Sameer Samantray 53, Rajat Behera 40; Bishal Swain 4/24, Subham Singh 3/35) beat Desouza`s School 82/10 in 12.3 overs (Snehashish Sahoo 4/22) by 78 runs. PoM: Sameer Samantray.

April 12 (Match No 7, QF): St Gregorious School 154/5 in 15 overs (Harshit Prasad 52, Partha Sarathi Jena 37*; Gyan British Nayak 2/17) beat Guru Nanak Public School 115/8 in 15 overs (Arijit Mohanty 35, Debashish Dash 28; Saurav Singh 2/7) by 39 runs. PoM: Harshit Prasad.

April 13 (Match No 8, QF): St Arnold`s School 148/9 in 15 overs (Umesh Gautam 37, Vinayak Sao 29; Sumit Panda 3/17) beat Saraswati Sishu Vidya Mandir 54/10 in 12.1 overs (Olive Khaka 4/9, Lokesh Sharma 2/10-2) by 94 runs. PoM: Olive Khaka.
