Mahitosh Dey and Priyanka Routray won the titles in open and girls’ categories respectively in the Odisha State U-13 Chess Championship, which was held here at DAV Public School, Unit-VIII from June 9 to 11, 2017. A total of 203 players, including 60 girls participated in the seven-round tournament, which was organised by Khordha District Chess Association (KDCA), under the aegis of All Odisha Chess Association.

Former Police DG Sarat Chandra Misra and Unit-8 DAV School Principal Bhaghyabati Nayak gave away the prizes in the closing function. KDCA secretary Subhasis Patnaik, joint-secretary Saroj Kishore Behera,  chief arbiter Tapas Mohanty and deputy arbiter Santosh Mohapatra were present on the occasion.

Top two finishers in both the categoiesy qualified to represent Odisha in the National U-13 Chess Championship, scheduled to be held at Jalandhar, Punjab from June 21 to 29, 2017.
