Ananya Basak, M Eshwar Rao and Swetapadma Dalai bagged double crowns in the 12th KDTTA State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament, which was organised by Khurda District Table Tennis Association (KDTTA), under the aegis of Orissa State Table Tennis Association (OSTTA) here at Unit-I Indoor Hall from October 5 to 7, 2017.

Ananya, daughter of former national champion and Arjuna Awardee Arup Basak, won the two titles in women’s and junior girls’ singles. Cuttack lad Eshwar emerged champion in youth and junior boys’ singles sections, while local lass Swetapadma captured top honour in sub-junior and cadet girls’ events.

A total of 210 players, including 50 girls from 10 districts and institutions participated in the four-day tournament, which featured competition in nine singles events. RBI paddler Asif Haque won the men’s singles crown, defeating his elder brother Tausif Haque in the final. The titles in sub-junior and cadet boys’ events were claimed by Sahil Suman Bhuyan and Ayan M Khan respectively. The tournament was earlier inaugurated by OSTTA secretary Rabindra Kuamar Parida.

Suresh Chandra Moharana, Chief Electrical Inspector, State Rural Works Department, handed over the tropies and cash prizes in the closing function. Arup Basak, KDTTA secretary Smruti Ranjan Das, chief referee KSN Murty, international umpires Bijan Dasmahapatra, Tapan Kha, Sujit Ray and Sasant Sekhar Moahaptra were present on the occasion.

Senior men: Asif Haque (RBI) beat Tausif Haque (ESIC) 4-2.
Senior women: Ananya Basak (Khurda) beat Poushali Ghatak (AG Odisha) 4-0.
Youth boys: M Eshwar Rao (Cuttack) beat Kishan Prusty (Khurda) 4-0.
Junior boys: M Eshraw Rao beat Saheel Suman Bhuyan (Cuttack) 4-2.
Junior girls: Ananya Basak beat Yoshita Jammula (Khurda) 4-0.
Sub-junior boys: Sahil Bhuyan beat Mohit Behuray 4-1.
Sub-junior girls: Swetapadma Dalai (Bhubaneswar) beat Sikriti Bhagat (Cuttack) 4-3.
Cadet boys: Ayan M Khan (Cuttack) beat Archit Kumar Behera (Bhubaneswar) 3-1.
Cadet girls: Swetapadma Dalai beat Sodavaram Sohalika (Bhubaneswar) in league format.
