Host Odisha and Tripura collected one point each from in their truncated Group-C Ranji Trophy match, which ended in a tame draw at Vikash Cricket Ground, near Bhubaneswar today. In reply to a modest first-innings total of 194 for eight declared by Tripura, Odisha were 18 for one at the close of fourth and final day.
Teams shared points as first innings of both the sides could not be completed. The match was badly affected by rain and wet outfield as only two overs could be bowled in the first three days. However, the new first-class cricket venue, 18th of its kind in Odisha, witnessed two notable feats on the final day with Tripura opening batsman Udiyan Bose scoring a stroke-filled century and Odisha left-arm spinner Dhiraj Singh bagging five wickets for 55 runs.
Bose hit 14 boundaries and five sixes in his 151-ball knock of 104. He was adjudged the man of the match. Bose was associated in an 83-run partnership for the fourth-wicket with Yashpal Singh. Resuming at the overnight score of six for no loss, Tripura rode on the Bose knock to be well placed at 156 for three.
But loss of five wickets in space of 32 runs reduced them to 188 for eight. Dhiraj Singh did maximum damage to the Tripura innings, capturing four of the last five wickets. He was well supported by pacer Suryakant Pradhan who picked up two wickets for 35 runs.
