  Delhi Public School down Unit-VI Govt Boys HS

Delhi Public School (DPS), Kalinga rode on a goal each by Sudeep Mishra and Kartik Luthra to upset home favourites Govt Boys’High School, Unit-VI in their opening Group-D match of the MCL Cup 29th Bhubaneswar Inter-School Football Tournament here at Unit-VI Boys’ High School Ground today.

Lanky striker Sudeep drew first blood in the 18th minute as DPS led 1-0 at the half-way stage. Kartik capped the dominant win, netting the second goal in the 38th minute. Unit-VI got a golden chance to equalize in the 21st minute. But the opportunity went abegging as a long-range shot hit the cross-bar. DPS captain Rishav Parekh was adjudged the player of the match and he received the prize from former Odisha Santosh Trophy player Jatin Dutta.

 

Earlier in the day, Times Gurukul held Govt Boys’High School, Unit-2 to a goalless draw in their Group C match. With this match, Times Gurukul completed their league engagements with four points from two matches. Hockey Gangpur-Odisha secretary Debasish Gouda handed over the player of the match prize to Gurukul goalkeeper Debidutta Samal.

The tournament is being organised by premier football club Unit-VI Athletic Association. Today’s matches were officiated by match commissioner Maheswar Singh along with referees Prakash Das, Sekhawat Khan, Bulbul Bhoi, Amit Nayak and Pradipta Nayak.

First match:
Unit-2 Sai International School vs BJEM School (2.30 PM)
Second match: Ramakrushna Sikhya Kendra vs St Xavier’s High School, Khandagiri (3.45 PM)
