Continueing its effort to promote hockey in schools of capital city Bhubaneswar, Hockey Gangpur-Odisha (HGO) distributed hockey sticks and balls among students of Tapoban High School, Khandagiri today. This was the third such programme by HGO with the earlier two taking place at Unit-1 Govt Boys’ High School and Capital High School.

Olympian William Xalxo and fellow international Roshan Minz distributed the equipments in the presence of Tapoban High School headmaster Ram Chandra Sahu and HGO secretary general Debasish Gouda. ``Bhubaneswar is going to host the Odisha World Hockey League Final and Hockey World Cup 2017 and 2018 respectively. But apart from inmates government sports hostel, other school students are yet to get into the game of hockey,’’ Xalxo, who is also a vice-president of HGO.

``As a part of our programme we will create a boys’ hockey team in Tapoban High School,’’ announced Minz. According to Gouda, HGO will adopt five more city-based schools, providing them equipments and coaches to create junior level players.
