M Eshwar Rao, Ananya Basak and Swetapadma Dalai bagged two singles titles each in the 23rd Odisha State Table Tennis Championship, which concluded at TT Academy-cum-Indoor Hall in Angul today. Cuttack youth Rao emerged champion in junior and youth boys’ events, while Khurda lass Ananya clinched the double crown in junior girls and women’s categories.

Bhubaneswar school student Swetapadma Dalai captured the two titles in cadet and sub-jr girls’ events. Bikash Singh of Rourkela Steel Plant surfaced as the new men’s singles champion, defeating Mohammed Azhar of East Coast Railway in the final by 4-2 games. Singles crown in cadet girls, sub-junior boys and veteran man’s events were pocketed by Ayan Mustak Khan, Saheel Suman Bhuyan and Joseph Benedicto respectively.

North-Central Range Police DIG Yatindra Koyal and Anugul Police Superintendent Brijesh Kumar Rai handed over the trophies and a total cash prize of Rs 50,000 in the closing function. Odisha State Table Tennis Association secretary Rabindra Kumar Parida, Anugul District Sports Officer Mahendra Kumar Sahoo, chief referee Jeevan Ballav Samal, umpires Bijon Das Mohapatra, Sujit Ray, KSN Murty, Tapan Kha, M Chinna Rao and Kallol Ganguly were present on the occasion.

RESULTS (All finals): Cadet girls’ singles: Swetapadma Dalai (Bhubaneswar) bt Soumyajyoti Das (Cuttack) in round robin league. Cadet boys’ singles: Ayan Mustak Khan (Cuttack) bt Anindya Anupam Das (Bhubaneswar) 3-1 (11-8, 11-8, 7-11, 11-4). Sub-jr girls’ singles: Swetapadma Dalai (Bhubaneswar) bt Nandini Biswal (Bhubaneswar) 4-1 (11-4, 11-8, 11-5, 8-11, 11-4). Sub-junior boys’ singles: Saheel Suman Bhuyan (Cuttack) bt Mohit Behuray (Cuttack) in round robin league. Junior girls’ singles: Ananya Basak (Khurda) bt Yoshita Jamula (Khurda) 4-0 (11-2, 11-7, 11-1, 11-6). Junior boys’ singles: M Eshwar Rao (Cuttack) bt Saheel Suman Bhuyan (Cuttack) 4-2 (13-15, 9-11, 11-5, 11-5, 11-7, 11-9). Youth boys’ singles: M Eshwar Rao bt Kishan Prusty (Bhubaneswar) 4-0 (11-6, 15-13, 11-9, 11-5). Women’s singles: Ananya Basak (Khurda) bt Poushali Ghatak (AG Odisha) 4-0 (11-5, 11-6, 11-5, 11-6).
