Odisha’s campaigh in the Sub-junior Girls’ National Football Championship ended at the semifinal stage when they lost to Chandigarh 0-3 at Imphal in Manipur today. Chandigarh set up the final match against formidable Manipur, who defeated Maharastra 7-2 in the other semifinal of the day.
Odisha reached the last-four stage, mauling Rajasthan 14-0 and 10-0 in group league and Kerala 4-1 in the quarterfinals. Manisha Nayak was the highest scorer for Odisha with eight goals to her name.
The 20-member Odisha team included six from Bhubaneswar Sports Hostel, five from Bhubaneswar, four from Sundargarh Sports Hostel, two from Kendrapara and one each from Sundargarh, Rourkela and Bargarh. The tournament will conclude on November 6, 2017.
