  Odisha bag 4 medals in Natl School Chess C’ship

Odisha bagged one gold and three bronze medals in the 7th National School Chess Championship, which was organised by KIIT Deemed University, under the aegis of All Odisha Chess Association at KIIT Campus here from January 28 to February 1, 2018.

Rutumbara Bidhar captured the lone gold in U-17 girls’ category with five points out of a possible seven. The three bronze medals were pocketed by Sriansh Dash (U-9 boys), Arushi Srichandan (U-9 girls) and Mohitesh Dey (U-13 boys) groups. A total of 820 players from 25 states vied for medals in 12 different categories of the three-day championship, which was earlier inaugurated by KIIT & KISS founder Prof Achyuta Samanta.

Medals were handed over by KIIT Registrar Prof Sasmita Samanta, in the presence of AOCA secretary K K Sarma, N K Nanda Kumar and KIIT Sports Director Dr aganendu Dash. Two employees of KIIT, Aparajita Gochiikar and Jyoti Sankar Nanda were awarded with arbiter normson the occasion.

U-7 Boys: 1. Rosh Jain (DEL), 2. Sathvik Adiga (KAR), 3. Ishaan Singh Khanuj (MP).
U-7 Girls: 1. Lakshana S (TN), 2. Tashna Aggarwal (UP), 3. BK Luxshana (TN).
U-9 Boys: 1. Kush Bhagat (MAH), 2. Tanish Sai Kavuru (AP), 3. Sriansh Das (ODI).
U-9 Girls:
1. AN Shefali (KAR), 2. Suhaani Lohia (MAH), 3. Arushi Srichandan (ODI).
U-11 Boys:
1. Shahil Dey (ASM), 2. Reuben Colaco (GOA), 3. Harsh Suresh (TN).
U-11 Girls: 1. Kheerthi Ganta (TEL), 2. Ratnapriya K (TN), 3. Tejaswi R (TN).
U-13 Boys: 1. Pranesh M (TN), 2. Harshad S (TN), 3. Mahitosh Dey (ODI).
U-13 Girls:
1. Dhyana Patel (GUJ), 2. Tanvi Vasudev Hadki (GOA), 3. Vijayasubhasri S (TN).
U-15 Boys: 1. Kartavya Anadkat (GUJ), 2. Naitik R Mehta (GUJ), 3. M Shyam Kumar (TN).
U-15 Girls: 1. Nityata Jain (MP), 2. L Jyothsna (TN), 3. V Nanditha (TEL).
U-17 Boys: 1. Arka Sengupta (WB), 2. Anugraha Jaisingh (MAH), 3. Visal R Sibi (TN).
